I can’t believe it is butter.

Churn ButterRecently, I traveled down memory lane with a new acquaintance. One of the things he recalled was that is grandpa never got excited. I am certain his grandpa had learned this trait and I am confident this is a learned trait that many of us need to learn.

Proverbs 30:33 – If you churn milk, you get butter; if you pound on your nose, you get blood–and if you stay angry, you get in trouble.

Anger is an emotion and emotions are gifts from God. How are you handling or mishandling that gift? By sharing it OVER AND OVER with everyone around you?

  • Stop Panicking
  • Pray
  • Breathe
  • Respond

Also, why is it that our cars are safety zones for our anger to be unleashed on other drivers?

If you churn milk, you get butter, duh.

Love,

Duane

Restless Wanderer

Rescue HelicopterGod told Cain since he killed Abel, ‘you will be a restless wanderer’. (Genesis 4)

Cain’s reply, ‘My punishment is more than I can bear…I will be hidden from your presence.’.

When he found out he would be hidden from God’s presence it was more than he could bear.

This passage depicts a glimpse of Hell for me. Forever away from the presence of God. Forever. Torment. Restlessly wandering. Here is the key. Zero hope. None. No chance of ever being rescued.

In every rescue story I have ever heard or read, the “thing” that kept the wanderer going was, hope.

At this moment, there is hope. God is still in the search and rescue business and you have the opportunity to be rescued. Stop hiding.  There is hope, and he is The Way to God.

John 14:6

Cutting edge…

That's not a knifeIn an article sent to me from my friend…

“We’ve conducted a 35- to 40-year experiment in this country on whether or not fathers are optional accessories in the rearing of children. And the answer is, ‘They are not.’

Cutting edge is a phrase that indicates someone or a business is on the forefront of their business or craft. It is time that we as fathers become cutting edge fathers and be on the forefront of our craft. Fathering.

Truth is, dads, someone will and is fathering your child. There are so many things that will try to keep you from being on top of your game, but none of it matters.

Are you cutting edge or dull?

Find a friend that will help you hone your fathering skills.

Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17 NASB

Be Careful…

Wise ChoiceI received, I think, a “wrong text”. I wasn’t butt dialed, but I was the wrong person intended to receive the message.

The message, “Be careful”.

Wise counsel on a road that is wet from an overnight rain.

Wisdom comes in all shapes and sizes and if you pay attention you will gain some.

I read and pray regularly for wisdom. Proverbs 4:5, Get wisdom, get understanding.

There is so much I don’t understand, so I pray for wisdom.

When you believe you have it all figured out and you don’t need direction or counsel, you are done seeking wisdom. When you are done seeking wisdom you are seeking foolishness and foolishness is much easier to find. In fact, you have already found it.

Proverbs 14:7 – Stay away from the foolish, for you will not find knowledge on their lips.

Duane

Distractions:

DistractionsDictionary.com:

  • the act of distracting
  • the state of being distracted
  • that which distracts, divides the attention, or prevents concentration
  • division or disorder caused by dissension; tumult

A.D.D.?, I don’t know, but I tend to easily get distracted.

Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that’s where life starts. Don’t talk out of both sides of your mouth; avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip. Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you. Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust. Proverbs 4:23-27

The reality?

People are dying every day without Jesus and what will I do or have I done today to get in the way of that happening?

Father, help me keep my eyes straight ahead on that truth and rid me of distractions.

Duane
