Nip it in the Bud

Nip it in the BudHow often does this happen to us?

We begin to “mess around” with sin. We start watering it, we fertilize it, it takes root, we continue to water and fertilize. It develops into a beautiful sinful flower that causes devastation to us and the family we love.

Beautiful sinful flower? Odd choice of words?

Remember Adam and Eve and “the fruit”? Scripture says Eve saw the fruit was “good for food and pleasing to the eye“.

Beautiful. Yummy. Tasty. Pretty. Sexy. Flirtatious. Delicious. Enticing. Alluring. Attractive. Handsome. Cute. Words that we don’t usually associate with sin.

Nip that sin in the bud BEFORE it develops into a beautiful sin that destroys you and your family.

Romans 8:12&13

Just say No! WAIT! Just say Nip it in the BUD!

Pride separates men from their boys…

Father & SonA boy is the only thing that God can use to make a man. ~ Cal Farley.

Raising a boy to be the man God has called him to be is of utmost importance!

I sent my son a text message. “I am proud of you son, I love you.” He chose to save that message on his phone since the time I had sent it. (Close to two years.) We know because we check his text messages. My wife told me that since his old phone died, that message had been lost.

Has that message been lost between you and your son?

My pride will not stand in the way of God’s plan for my son, will yours?

Proverbs 18:12

Love,

(I resent a similar message to my son.)

Perspective…

Empty BookshelfRecently at a “Christian”, bookstore I noticed that the “Women’s Interest” section was 3 times as large as the “Men’s Interest” section. It troubled me enough to update my Facebook status.

I purchase a “Men’s interest book” and in the first chapter I read that up until 1989 there were no men’s interest books. They would not sell, so publishers would not publish them. Wow. Really?

What have you read recently that helped you be the husband, father, man God has called you to be?

Men and directions. Like oil and water, refuse to mix.

Pride comes before destruction.

It’s ok to admit you can’t do it alone, your wife and family will not think less of you. In fact they are probably tired of going around the block.

Duane

Pride

First Day of SchoolPride can be a powerful tool and can be a deadly weapon!

When Jesus was baptized, his Father said ‘this is my Son with whom I am pleased’. To me that screams pride. A father, the Father, was proud of his Son! That had to be an incredible moment for Jesus. My dad is proud of ME!!!!! Awesome!

Some go their entire lives without hearing their earthly father saying that to them. Tragic. If that is you, spend time with your Father. He created you and knows that you need the touch of a father.

Dads, you are impacting generations to come, tell your children you are proud of them. Humble yourself in front of your Father and your children.

Pride comes before destruction. Not just yours.
