We are singing these lyrics at church this weekend.
Take my life and let it be
All for you and for your glory
Take my life and let it be yours
As I was listening to this song in preparation for this weekend, those words stood out.
We often get so wrapped up with the music that we miss the point of the song. We know the lyrics, so we can blurt them out without thinking about the lyrics.
Take my life and let it be
All for you and for your glory
Take my life and let it be yours
What if that were 100% true?
What would He do with your life? What would he change? Add? Subtract? Nothing?
The words are the most important part of any song.
Live it like you sing it.
Love,
Duane
God is at work!
I know, you may have heard that before, but seriously God is at work!
The Life Group I attend, met for dinner and my son pointed out that God was at work! I said, (proud fatherly like) “Yes, He is son”.
“No,” he said, “He is really at work. He works across the street.”
“What?”
I looked and sure enough, a sign in the window of a business said, God at Work.
Our group laughed and my mind raced.
The business…was a bank.
God is at work at a bank? With our money? Whoodathunk?
(For this analogy of God at work at a bank.)
Are we bank robbers?
Clearly stated, if we do not tithe, we rob God.
It’s not “our” money, it is his.
He that dies with the most toys, is dead.

Duane
A friend recently said to me, “You like to fix stuff“.
It’s true I love to tinker with stuff and keep it working. Computers, appliances, mowers, garbage disposals, etc., but my friend was talking about fixing a broken relationship.
That is where my handyman skillz are no good. I can’t fix a broken relationship. I can give spiritual direction and maybe some advice, but I can’t fix anything.
God is that handyman. He is in the business of keeping relationships working, marriages together, families strong, etc. No man or woman (including Oprah) can do it.
Along those lines, relationships take work. God wants to help heal your relationships, but you have to get in there and help turn the screws.
Work with God on your broken relationships.
He Got Mad Skillz!
Rest in Him.

Duane
Today, (Day 2 of Love is kind!) I was told, “You are supposed to be kind!”.
It was good to hear and to be pushed.
- Who is it in your life that pushes you to where you say you are supposed to be or do?
I need God. (Say that 10 times.)
Ok, now listen.
People need people. You need people. Not just people that will agree with your opinion or understand why you feel that way.
You need people that will challenge you to move and take your next step, not just waller in the mud with you.
If you always agree with those people in your life, you probably need another people. (Grammartime!)
You need God and you need those people.
People that will say the things you need to hear.
Also, who are you that people to?
Love,
Duane
Now that I am patient…(no comments, please)…on to kindness.
I have actually been anxiously awaiting this month. I guess some might say, patiently waiting.
I have some cool (at least I think so) ideas as to how I am going to do kind this month.
Ephesians 2:1-10
Last Christmas, I read a story that had this as a headline.
Mystery couple hands out $100 bills at laundromat
The couple went to a Laundromat and passed out Christmas cards with $100 bills in them. They handed the people the cards and left. Their identity is still a mystery. So cool and so on point.

Being kind is one thing but doing kind is where it is at.
