Ever heard?
Many have spent time on me. Some are no longer around to see if it was a good investment or not. Family who raised me. Pastors who taught me. Friends who friended me.
I don’t know why.
None of them said this to me.
“Duane, I will spend this time with you if you promise that my time will be well spent”.
Who are you investing in? Are you basing it on whether YOU believe it will be time well spent or not? That is not your call. Even if it was, you may never know.
Maybe some new sayings:
- That was love well spent
- That was peace well spent
- That was goodness well spent
- That was kindness well spent
- etc
Time is precious; Spend it wisely.
Love,
Duane
As I awoke this morning this verse popped in my mind.
Psalm 34:14
Is there an area of your life that you are searching for peace?
Have you been praying for it and now you are waiting (maybe too patiently) for it to “arrive”?
The passage says Seek Peace. Pursue it.
Seek:
- to go in search or quest of:
A quest. Cool. Are you on the quest for peace?
Remember playing hide and seek?
It wouldn’t have been much fun to be the seeker who sits in the corner waiting for the hider to come to him.
It is called hide and seek for a reason.
Scripture says seek peace for a reason. If it seems to be hiding, maybe you are not looking hard enough.
Watch out for nose burn.
Love,
Duane

I often think and sing songs…
There will be a day…
- No more tears
- No more pain
- No more fears
- etc.
Some day.
What am I waiting for?
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
Often and maybe usually, we live like that verse says this.
Although we have the spirit of fear; some day we will have the spirit but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Some day.
Meow or roar? You decide.
Matthew 28:16-20
Meow no more, I choose to roar. Hey, that rhymes! Maybe a new song to sing!
Love,
Duane
Moms’ all too familiar phrase, “Be on your best behavior! Oh, and do you have on clean underwear?”
Moms used to have to ask. Now, they can see their sons’ boxers without asking!
As their sons leave…
- they see boxers
- green and blue
- check mental file
He had those on two days ago! Get back here son!
The next generation will be the first generation to actually be able to wear the same size pants at age 40 that they wore in high school only higher. Many men from my generation wear the same size pants they wore in high school, but they now wear them lower. Funny.
Remember.
At church, we say we (like Abram) are blessed to be a blessing.
Today, be on your blessed behavior. No doubt, you WILL have the opportunity.
Love,
Duane

…is a phrase one writer used in 1869 to describe the “Appalachian life”.
Cool phrase.
What if…
A writer, unbeknownst (<— I like that word) to you, ventured into your land or you ventured into their land and they studied you?
What word(s) would the writer choose?
In most of your cases, definitely, peculiar!
Jesus was and continues to be, studied. Example…
Here comes that guy who healed on the Sabbath!
or
Here comes that guy who heals!
The words and phrases they used to describe Jesus ran the gamut. (<—I like that phrase.)
- Healer
- Teacher
- Master
- Lord
- Blasphemer
- Messiah
- Friend
- Foe
- …
In your study of Jesus, what word(s) or phrase(s) do you use?
Why?
Does it depend on who you are around?
Why?

Duane
